Online searches for the ‘clean girl aesthetic’ grew by over 500% in the U.K., Germany and Australia between 2021 and 2023.[1] At the same time, interest in buccal fat removal surged, only to drop by 87% in just six months.[2] These shifts speak to both the scale and pace of change in aesthetics, underscoring the need to stay ahead of evolving demands.
Galderma’s groundbreaking trend report, NEXT by Galderma, examines these dynamics and provides invaluable insights on the future of aesthetics.
Navigating what’s new and what’s NEXT in aesthetics
NEXT by Galderma was published in January 2024 as an extension of our close collaboration with healthcare professionals. Based on trend forecasting, market analysis and industry expert knowledge, it identified six key trends set to shape the future of aesthetics:
- Proactive Beauty: focusing on early intervention to future-proof facial features
- Expressionality: personalizing treatments to celebrate individual identity
- Cancelling Age: moving beyond anti-aging to promote health and vitality
- Mindful Aesthetics: emphasizing sustainable and ethically sourced treatments
- Fast Aesthetics: meeting demand for instant results and reversibility
- Beauty Fandom: addressing niche aesthetic desires driven by cultural influences
Now, NEXT by Galderma is being brought to life through our training and education programs.
GAIN: heritage-led expertise meets the future of aesthetics
Through the Galderma Aesthetic Injector Network (GAIN), we have translated the trends identified in NEXT by Galderma into training. We focus on the practical application of these insights, equipping aesthetic practitioners with the knowledge and skills to meet patients where they are today – and anticipate where they will be tomorrow.
The GAIN platform is a cornerstone of our commitment to best-in-class education. Through regional GAIN events, ‘Train-the-Trainer’ sessions and online workshops, we inspire and connect a network of thousands of highly skilled, clinically proficient injectors every year. In 2024 alone, we trained over 88,000 practitioners at the more than 8,000 events we hosted around the world.
GAIN is designed to help healthcare professionals adapt to the latest trends, techniques and technologies in aesthetics – while delivering outstanding results. And this year, we leveled up the training by integrating new insights from NEXT by Galderma.
NEXT offers the vision, GAIN brings it to life
We have aligned GAIN trainings with NEXT in three key areas: consultation, facial assessment and injection technique.
Our consultation training enhances the injector-patient relationship through better communication, cultural awareness and managing expectations.
We have also introduced advanced facial assessment techniques, focusing on symmetry, movement, volume loss, skin quality and structure, alongside training for minimally invasive procedures. This helps injectors create precise, targeted treatment plans for optimal results.
Our holistic approach is already proving effective: at our GAIN events in Latin America and Asia-Pacific in 2024, we held injection demonstrations incorporating the trends Proactive Beauty, Cancelling Age and Beauty Fandom. And we delivered some of the most impressive before-and-after results ever achieved.
Continued commitment to our healthcare professional partners
Aligning GAIN with the trends identified in NEXT by Galderma is just one way we are bridging the gap between knowledge and practice in aesthetics. As the demand for treatments continues to grow, we remain committed improving the treatment experience for patients and practitioners alike.
