Fort Worth, TX (March 13, 2012) – Cetaphil®, the #1 dermatologist‐recommended brand of cleansers and moisturizers, today announced the launch of Cetaphil® DermaControl™ products, formulated specially for acne‐prone skin.  Cetaphil® DermaControl™ is the first skin care line of its kind designed to work with potent prescription acne medicine to help improve both acne symptoms and acne treatment side effects.  

The products help reduce oil, control shine, and support healthy skin by helping maintain its barrier function and soothe irritation delivered through advanced technology. Both DermaControl™ products are gentle, non‐comedogenic and have been clinically tested with common acne medications for tolerability and performance.  

On average, nearly 24 million patients will see a doctor about their acne, most patients in the 11‐20 age range. Typical acne sufferers are not only self‐conscious about their appearance, but feel continually frustrated with finding a routine that will not aggravate their symptoms or sensitize their skin. In fact, many products designed for acne contain ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide which can cause additional irritation already brought on by acne medications.  

Instead of including additional drug ingredients, the Cetaphil® DermaControl™ products contain advanced skincare technology.  The Cetaphil® DermaControl™ Foam Wash uses Zinc technology to help maintain barrier function in damaged, acne‐prone skin, to aid in oil control and to soothe skin. It gently cleans skin without stripping natural lipids which can leave it dry and susceptible to environmental assaults, such as UV rays and climate changes, which can lead to dehydration.

The DermaControl™ Moisturizer SPF 30 features patented Oleosome technology to provide critical broad‐spectrum UVA/UVB protection with less UV filtering chemicals. The result is a much lighter‐weight moisturizer. The moisturizer also utilizes Micropearl technology to provide a mattefying effect, ceramide technology to help restore the barrier function, and Zinc technology to help control surface oil and prevent the shine associated with oily, acne‐prone skin.
